Wednesday 22nd Jan - Workshop 4 - Songwriting

Wednesday 22nd Jan - Workshop 4 ‘Songwriting’ Notes From Workshop: Worked with a worksheet that did a step by step guide on songwriting. Started with stimulus - man on a bench. Analysed stimulus - focusing on emotions portrayed, vibe of photo and what we think is happening etc. Then put into groups/pairs - me with Gracie and Verity. Started to build a song by firstly discussing how we each interpreted the stimulus. Agreed that the man is lonely and struggling with deep thoughts - the idea of overthinking. Came up with title = “Lost Thoughts” - built song up from there. Started with verse 1 having links to addiction - either drugs or alcohol but in a metaphorical sense and verse 2 surrounds more of a metaphor about exercise as its known that exercising can help a person to feel better and act as a therapeutic method. Songwriting Worksheet: Group’s Note for Lyrics: Group Song Based on a Stimulus:

Monday 20 th Jan - Workshop 3 ‘Interpreting a Stimulus & How to Make it Entertaining’ Notes on Workshop: Pt.1 Mime Mimed our morning routine - everyone started simplistic and basic (boring visually) Started experimenting with movement and coming away from just being in one spot Exaggerated our movements Changed timings around - stepped away from doing it in real time  Had to do whole morning routine in 20 seconds  Allowed us to experiment with our movements to take a boring task (getting ready in the morning) and make it something interesting for an audience to watch. Pt.2 Act Out an Argument Moved from morning routine and mimed an argument with someone (not seen/audience/break 4th wall) How to show an argument  - someone has taken my hoodie Worked with movements to show an argument  Everyone started in just mime - so we added speech and emphasised everything Pt.3Argument With No Speech Recreate argument about stolen hoodie but with no speech - all soundscapes Ho...

Wednesday 15th Jan - Workshop 2 ‘Shoes’ Pt.1 Brainstorm Stimulus We brainstormed what we thought the stimulus was trying to convey and what emotions it was presenting. Focused on: Image colour pallet Emotions in image How does it make us feel? What’s literally being shown in image Metaphorical meaning - analysis of image We then got put into groups of 4. We started by sharing our ideas and what we brainstormed. As a group, we collectively felt that the image had an every vibe. We felt that it was portraying that the people who these shoes belong to have gone missing either by choice or kidnapped/dead. We felt the photo had an every level of uncertainty to it. We also felt that the image was quite juvenile based on the shoes that were on the ground and had a sense of urbanity.  Pt.2 Create a Short Scene After our brainstorm, we were set the task to create a short physical theatre scene (up to 1 minute) based on the stimulus and what we brainstormed. We wanted to keep to the theme of...
